In the words of Sir Donald Curry to the Prince of Wales “this is the highlight of your visit to Northumberland”!
Welcomed by Kirkharle owners John & Kitty Anderson, the Prince (accompanied by the Duchess of Northumberland) was given a tour of Capability Brown’s lake, meeting those responsible for the development, upkeep and ongoing improvements of the project.
He was then greeted by some of the pupils from nearby Cambo and Hexham Priory Schools, who helped plant over 2000 wildflower bulbs in the surrounding parkland last year.
HRH toured a number of artist workshops before attending a reception (with a much deserved cuppa!) for beneficiaries and supporters of the Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services group, marking their 25th anniversary.
For the many of us fortunate to meet him, all agree he was a most genuine and truly charming Prince and Kirkharle was honoured to host and be included in the Royal Northumberland visit.
Many thanks to all those involved in the meticulous organising and creating a very memorable day for the Courtyard.
