We enjoyed a wonderful Northumbrian Summers day on our Open Farm Sunday – clear blue skies and warming air. Machinery and equipment used on our farm were there for all to look at – the size of the combine harvester truely baffled Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown who, of course was present to tell visitors about his early life at Kirkharle and his future career. Our bee keeper showed visitors his two hives and even allowed us to don white overalls and ‘get up close’ to the 140,000 bees busily working to make honey for our Farm shop. Vegetables grown in the nearby walled garden were on display.  Our cow and two calves and the sheep were a great attraction for younger visitors who where then told of the fun had by our local Young Farmers Club members on a recruiting drive. We very much hope that this day generated a deeper understanding of locally grown food and the work that is involved in producing it. Further details from info@kirkharlecourtyard.co.uk
