Planting the Plan – Visitors will collaborate under supervision to ‘implement’ the design on Brown’s Kirkharle plan using model wooden ‘trees’. By using the ‘trees’ to transfer the design on Brown’s plan onto the ground, it will reveal the ‘capabilities’ that he wanted to bring out, the landscape picture – seen through the window frames – that he sought to create. The ‘trees’ will be different colours, and will include conifer shapes, illustrating how Brown used foliage colour and tree form. By participating in the creation of an ‘instant’ landscape, visitors will learn the kind of landscape Brown aimed to create and how he went about achieving his aims
