Sowing the seeds for 2016 celebrations

On 1st January 2016, two oak trees were kindly presented by two generous donors and were planted beside Kirkharle Lake, marking the start of Capability Brown’s tricentennial year of celebrations.

For the third year running, Kirkharle hosted this event and were delighted to welcome school and family groups as well as adult visitors who learned about Capability Brown, his boyhood at Kirkharle and his life as the ‘Shakespeare of Gardening’.
