All concerts take place in the historic St Wilfrid’s Church. Tickets £10, which includes a scone and a cuppa!
10th July – Da Vinci String Quartet Iona Brown, Jane Nossek (violins), Mike Gerrard (viola), and Gabriel Waite (cello), are all of whom are members of Royal Northern Sinfonia. Their programme will include Mozart quartet in B flat k589 and Mendelssohn quartet op 44 no 1 in D major.
31st July – The Shoe Shop Quartet A vintage inspired, all female barbershop quartet performing classic songs from the Great American Songbook along with some more contemporary songs…
14th August – Sandra Kerr Well known as the co- writer (with John Faulkner) of the music for “Bagpuss”. Sandra also directs choirs and is greatly respected as a tutor of folk arts. For this solo concert, Sandra will delight us with traditional folk songs from Northumberland, some of her own compositions and perhaps something from Bagpuss!
28th August – Brass Tracks Quintet Based in Edinburgh, they are one of Scotland’s most exciting and engaging Brass Quintets. Dedicated to making all music accessible, whether its 500 years old, or something a bit more modern. They are committed to inspiring and reaching new audiences, so this should be a lively concert!
11th September – Sirocco Winds These five young musicians met while studying at the Royal Conservatoir of Scotland. Glasgow based this talented vibrant group perform some well-known wind quintets and possibly an arrangement or two of their own.
